Orem Canyon View Self-Reliance Groups

In January 2021, the Orem Canyon View Stake will start two new Self-Reliance courses. As your stake presidency, we invite you to prayerfully consider participating in one of these groups.

Personal Finance Group

All are invited to attend this 12-week course which helps participants learn practical skills such as budgeting, debt elimination, saving for future expenses, and planning for retirement. More importantly, participants learn how to better counsel with the Lord and managing money in ways that are pleasing to Him. Groups are formed and meet for 12 weeks to learn, discuss and complete objectives.

Emotional Resilience Group

All are invited to attend this new 10-week course, which is defined as “the ability to adapt to emotional challenges with courage and faith centered in Jesus Christ, helping others as best you can, and reaching out for additional help when needed.” The skills learned in this course are invaluable during the turbulent, emotionally challenging times we are all living through, times when our greatest support will come from reaching out to the Savior for His guidance and assistance. This will be the debut for this new course from the Church which has been much anticipated.

Many blessings have come to our stake members who have participated in Self-Reliance classes, and we are confident that these same kinds of blessings will come to you, too.

Use Your Talents to Help A Neighbor

Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson, Young Women General President taught, "some of the most significant needs we can meet are within our own families, among our friends, in our wards, and in our communities...Heavenly Father may have placed those who need us closest to us, knowing that we are best suited to meet their needs." Contact your local Stake Self-Reliance Committee, your Church leaders or community organization and let them know you are ready to use your talents to serve.

Find Opportunities In The Community with JustServe is a website where the volunteer needs of organizations may be posted and volunteers may search for places to serve in the community, providing opportunities to help those in need and enhance the quality of life in the community.
